Livatty offers a wide range of Controlled Release Fertilizers manufactured by the Dutch company Mivena BV. They use the latest technology to coat their fertilizers using a polymer resin. This special coating consists of various layers with tiny tears resulting in a maze-like structure. The water is able to enter the semi permeable resin coated fertilizer granule through osmosis.

When the sun shines and temperature increases, the plant wants to grow. The soil temperature rises, the nutrients swell, gradually expanding the tears in the coating, allowing the release of the nutrients into the soil. In this way the controlled release fertilizer is synchronized with the needs of the plant. Likewise, the release pattern will slow down when the temperature drops during cooler periods and the plant growth demands lesser nutrients.

The longevity of the is calculated at a temperature level of 21˚C. Temperatures above or below this level will shorten or lengthen the longevity. As a ground rule 25% increase of temperature will shorten the longevity by 25%. A temperature decrease of 25% of the standard level of 21˚C will extend the longevity by 25%. For instance, the longevity of 3-4 months becomes 5-6 months at a temperature of 19 ˚C.

The release of the nutrients starts at temperatures as low as 3 to 4˚C. Due to this continuous release of nutrients the plant is less susceptible to hidden hunger or stress.

The release rate is not significantly dependent on the water or moisture levels within the soil. The fertilizer does not leach away during rains or excessive water application. Therefore the application rates can be much lower as with traditional fertilizers, resulting in higher efficiency and lower costs. The indicated longevity is ensured.
The environment benefits equally, as there is a lower risk of underground water pollution through leaching or volatilization. The resin coating is biodegradable.

The release is not affected by the soil type or soil quality.
